engagement | Elizabeth + Matthew
"I'm much more me when I'm with you."
Again, we find ourselves praying off rain . . . and it worked . . . again. However, we did forget to pray off chiggers and mosquitoes and a warm, muggy evening, but it was a price worth paying.
There' s straight-away in the road between Good Hope and High Shoals, and either side of a road, a church. Each with a red door. Neither used as a church today, but they still stand strong and tall with land around each structure, cradling their ancestors. You can't travel this road without those red doors catching your gaze. Today, love and memories bring us here.
Elizabeth's uncle purchased the property years ago, and he has transformed some 60-acres into a wilderness haven. A spot for launching a canoe. A workshop between the pines. A library for those intrigued. A place to stay in solitude. A dock on a pond just to sit and listen to nature. There are too few places like this in our world.
This natural spot only needed one thing to make its scenery even more spectacular: Elizabeth + Matthew. Having met Elizabeth and her family months ago, we knew this wedding was going to be special. But then, when we met Matthew and he and Elizabeth were together, well, the chemistry just exploded. She, a recent college graduate, and he, a second lieutenant in the National Guard. Two people who are obviously on the right track - then, make them a team - look out world!
I promised Matthew our Saturday evening in the woods would hurt less than a root canal, and I think we delivered.

Elizabeth + Matthew, Len and I are so excited to be a part of your journey, to curate your first family heirloom. Separately, you are wonderful people; together, you are unstoppable. We are humbled and honored. God bless . . . With love and gratitude, L + J
