the sunflower farm festival

in spite of the rain that has pouring on georgia for the past month, it didn't matter to the visitors to the sunflower farm. these rain boots were made for walking through sunflower fields and that's exactly what they did. thousands showed up saturday morning and with the rain came cooler temperatures, a much needed respite for those who remember last year's 109 degree heat. it all started with the banding of hummingbirds and a tractor parade followed by county and bluegrass sounds as people lined up for their favorite bbq and sweet tea, ziplined over the open field (soggy sunflower field and trucks do not mix), and found treasures underneath the tree-lined shade. not a bad way to spend a july weekend. it happens each year - the first weekend in july.
