meet me in the country
First Scarlett | Then Boho | Always Fabulous
Leslie will always be my Scarlett. Len and I met Leslie one morning (for the first time) around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 78 at an antebellum mansion that could have been called Tara. Willingly, I might add, she agreed to be our cover model for a magazine shoot celebrating the 75th anniversary of Gone With the Wind; we might as well have been Bonnie & Clyde for all she knew. The dew still on the grass, she waded through wet grass wearing an over-sized kelly green antebellum dress (held together by paper clips) and donned the Scarlett bitchy-ness. And she did it magnificently. Our magazine cover girl was a hit. And, we made a wonderful new friend.
Today, we're still in the country. There's no dew, and we promise, no kelly green dress, and she's as brilliant and beautiful as ever. These photos won't don the cover of a magazine, but they very well could. As passersby can attest, she is a show-stopper. After those baby-blues grab you, her child-like laughter confirms she's having the time of her life, being a lady while letting a snort loose in the really giddy moments. Lexie, her little lady, watches her mama; in fact, she rarely takes eyes off her. That is, until we get to the cotton field and the corn patch, and well, there's just too much fun to be had roaming through all those crunchy cornstalks. Her friend Christy fills the role as cheerleader and purse-carrier and iphone chronicler. Those three make a great team. Stefan Trimm joins the ladies, and for a couple of hours, he's "married" to the lady in the country, holding hands and making plans. At the end of the night, however, Leslie quickly asks for a divorce, for there's a man waiting at home for her.
Much gratitude and love to these who are helping to build our portfolio and the Seeing Southern Photography brand. For those who are visiting, we hope you like what you see; if so, we'd love to tell your story.
