Rome
I traveled to Rome about 15 years ago. I really doubted that anything had changed very much, I know what you're thinking; the city has been there thousands of years - what is the likelihood that it would change in the course of 15. However, it is a different world now. There's more security, more vigilance, more trepidation. Even with all those iffy factors, I wouldn't stay home.
It is Len's first visit to the country (Sicily) of his grandparents, and he honestly didn't know what to expect. Growing up Catholic, his impressions and expectations of this religious mecca are much different than mine. His childhood ritual as altar boy gives him a unique perspective of the monuments, the churches, the Holy City. His life has been fashioned and dictated by his Catholic faith. As a Southern Baptist, well, my perspective was different, yet not totally contradictory.
There's an eternal pull from this city, unlike any I've ever visited. If you want to be changed, go to Rome. Heck, go to Italy.
We invite you to share some of our most memorable moments in this city.
