![]() What do you want to be when you grow up? The question that every single person on the planet has been asked at least once. I suppose if you're in the South, you can triple that number. Reunions and church homecomings are the prime moments for the Aunt Bettys and Uncle Joes to invariably pinch flesh between the ears, creating ghastly faces forcing blood to show it's true color. Evidently, it's what you do. Everyone has always assumed the answer to that question was one thing. You get one choice. That's it. Well, come to find out, everyone was wrong. Last Saturday, I glanced at Len and said, "This is the last place in the world you expected to be, doing the last thing in the world you thought you'd be doing." "Yep," he said and chuckled in return. Then, as if he and I had done this our entire lives, in a conference room surrounded by gaudy tables and wafts of spring rolls in the air, we greeted brides and mamas with hand shakes and laughter, sharing our love of photography and storytelling and asking them to consider us, Seeing Southern Photography, to document their fairy-tale moment. Post education, IT management, book writing, project management, conference running, personal assisting - there is a life! Oh, one that will for sure include our travel stories, but one that will be centered on what we love, what we enjoy, what brings us joy. Here's to being too old to quit now and finally realizing that you can have it all and on your terms.

Whether it is exploring this amazing world or being content on my own piece of real estate near Athens, Georgia, I'm spinning stories and fashioning tales from a Southern perspective. As an editor and writer, I get to meet incredible people and share their stories. As a photographer, I get to cement these moments in time. As a wife and mother, I'm always excited to see what's around the next corner, For it's anything but ordinary. archives
