It's not simply the glitz of the festival that lures visitors to come partake of unique culinary creations or fine wines and craft beer all the while listening to your daddy's jazz bellowing from the sax; it's the city of Greenville which is likely the festival's biggest yet most silent attraction.
This walkable community satisfies your appetite and curiosity. Over 60 (local not chains) restaurants flank Main Street - along with long-time staple Mast General Store - so if the festival doesn't provide you enough choices, the shop-owners in downtown Greenville certainly will. My favorites: Charleston Cooks, where you can find that perfect do-dad to help you become the next culinary genius; Dark Corner Distillery, touted as the "World's Best Moonshine"; Mast General, where yesterday is a very good day. There's museums and art galleries, biking and exploring along the Reedy River or the Swamp Rabbit Trail (trails from Greenville to Travelers Rest - did I mention amazing) and if you travel away from of the city, there's enough waterfalls and scenery (Highway 11 and Caesars Head) to calm whatever else ails you.
Euphoria is a great starter for the fall season. And its cherry on top - the event serves as a fundraiser for Local Boys Do Good, a non-profit that focuses on providing sustenance to those (primarily in upstate South Carolina) in need of food, health or education. The entire event is a little pricey, and if that is an impossibility, choose one event and take the family - take the time to slow down and find the pleasures in life.
