Affordable luxury at Hotel de Sers in Paris

Come to Paris, they say.

You will love it here, they promise.

There’s not a woman on this planet who doesn’t hear Paris and, immediately, an ethereal movie begins playing in her mind - of beautifully dressed women gliding down the Champs Elysée; of street cafes where women and men dressed in couture, sip coffee; the salesman in Louis Vuitton gingerly handing over an orange bag wrapped in blue ribbon with a dream inside; and the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower bidding you goodnight and sweet dreams. And those thoughts are only the beginning of my dream of Paris.

Channeling that vision, we sought and found Hotel de Sers in Paris, a luxury hotel with all the feels that would not break our budget and still allow for all the other intentions to come to fruition.

This is the key to travel, regardless of destination: what can we not live without and where are we willing to compromise? Whether it be an attraction, a meal or lodging, in order to come away with a rewarding experience, questions must be asked and answered. Common sense tells us we can’t always get what we want, but if you jiggle the chain right, you can come close.

As for the hotel - cleanliness, decor, expertise, safety, customer service, location—all non-negotiables for us.

For Paris, price and location were paramount. Since it was our first time in Paris, we wanted to be within walking distance of the Champs Elysée. Catching an Uber or taxi without difficulty was important, and the concierge at Hotel de Sers made that seamless. I wanted luxury appointments; after all, we are in Paris.

Perfectly located to explore renowned couture houses and revel in Parisian nightlife, the Hotel de Sers provides a serene retreat from the famous bustling avenue. The moment you step inside, the city’s vibrant energy gives way to the tranquility of an elegant haven, echoing with the stories that shaped it. Just a few steps away from the Champs-Élysées, the Hotel de Sers is one of those rare addresses where time seems to stand still.
A new chapter on the Champs-Élysées: following a complete renovation, Hôtel de Sers unveils a renewed vision of its storied past. Once the private residence of the Marquis de Sers, this discreet address nestled in Paris’s prestigious 8th arrondissement gracefully reconnects with its aristocratic heritage while embracing a contemporary approach to hospitality. Behind its understated Haussmann façade, the five-star Hôtel de Sers has been reimagined for today’s discerning travelers—a place to live as much as to stay. Designed as an intimate and luminous Parisian home, it sits just steps away from the Champs-Élysées and Avenue George V. ~
Hotel de Sers

From the ease of check-in to dining and shopping suggestions to departure on our final day, Hotel de Sers greeted us by name, anticipated and answered all our inquiries, taking care of everything. There are 47 rooms, including seven suites. Our superior room overlooked the rooftops of Paris (the 7th floor Eiffel suite provides the tower’s view). Spacious - with a sitting room and desk - the room included a king-size bed covered in blankets and pillows, perfect for curling up at the end of the day. During our visit, the temperatures were cold in Paris, and when I discovered the heated bathroom floor, I knew this was a hotel for all seasons. All the comforts of home - while in Paris.

After a full day of travel, we opted for room service, which we do at every hotel we visit. Donning bathrobe and slippers, we were in full relaxation mode. Pizza and fries - we would save the Parisian delights for outdoor cafes - were delivered quickly and hot, making it a five-star experience. Over our decades of travel, we have learned that if room service is stellar, everything else follows. Nothing scientific, just an tried-and-true age-old experiment.

Our three days in this location, centrally located, provided the ideal homebase to scratch the surface of this beautiful city.

The inviting warmth of Hotel de Sers, an entrance the doubles as an art gallery.

The superior room is spacious yet cozy.

Amenities include slippers and robe, As A Non-Believer products, a sitting room, bedside chocolates, plus everything needed to make your stay comfortable. If you need your room refreshed, place the ‘butterfly’ on your pillow and return to a fresh room.

Breakfast is available from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. serving fresh fruits, yogurts, pastries or cooked-to-order plates. And even provide the unconventional to-go (for this city) cappuccino when tours and discovery are calling.

Each night, we enjoyed our usual nightcap at S’Bar and took our seat in the cozy courtyard atrium discussing our day. After the first night, the bartender met us with our usual order - bourbon and prosecco - and it was waiting on us at our usual table. Can’t argue with perfection.

It all comes down to the simple things

After an exhausting day of travel, the ability to have a good meal, in comfortable PJs, with no worries - only gratitude, is the ideal way to begin an new adventure. Although Paris was not our final destination on our European adventure, the three days spent in the City of Light exceeded our expectations due in large part to our wonderful accommodations at Hotel de Sers.

Hotel de Sers offers Parisian escape discounts often, so check the website and make plans for a special occasion or just a getaway weekend in Paris.
